As a former volunteer teacher in developing countries, Yifan Yu understands the amount of positive influence that education has on students

Meet Yifan Yu, another one of Think Academy’s interactive and supportive math teachers! Our educators strive for greatness in their students and work hard to ensure that they are put in a position to succeed. Today, we are going to talk about all of Yifan’s accomplishments both as a student and as a teacher.

Yifan Yu: Educational Background and Achievements

Yifan attended the University of Southern California, a private research institution located in Los Angeles. While at the University of California, she received her Master’s Degree. On top of that, Yifan was an active participant in mentorship programs and even held a volunteer teaching position in developing countries.

Yifan Yu: Teaching Philosophy

As USC’s alumni, Yifan fully absorbed the university’s attitude toward diversity and embraced different values from all cultures. In addition, Yifan firmly believes that diversity and inclusion will bring progress to our society as well as education and technology institutions. Because of this, she had actively participated in mentorship programs to guide her peer students and held a volunteer teaching position in developing countries during her graduate school life.

These experiences cultivated her outstanding communication and organizational skills and helped her develop a strong empathy toward others. Upon her graduation, Yifan chose to join Think Academy as a math teacher because she believes that no job can change individuals’ views as deeply as teachers can and no industry can improve people’s lives as much as education can.
