Think Academy Curriculum Development Process
The Think Academy curriculum development process revolves around four key steps to ensure both quality and accuracy
In regards to education, the quality of the curriculum is incredibly key to helping children grasp the class material. Poorly organized and unclear lesson plans make it difficult for students to learn. That is why the Think Academy curriculum development process is both thorough and intensive. In this article, you will learn about the steps that our teachers take to ensure that their math lesson plans are the best!
First Step: Research and Development
When designing a curriculum, it is important to gather as much information as possible on the math subject at hand. An educator needs to make sure that they are not missing any crucial topics while finalizing their lesson plan.
Because of this, our instructors conduct a great amount of research before deciding what will be included in the curriculum. They research the topics that are being taught at top level private schools and academic institutions. In addition, our educators familiarize themselves with the exact questions that are showcased in math competitions such as the AMC 8, Math Kangaroo, and others.
In doing so, their students will then be equipped to succeed in either their current grade level or at a competition they are preparing for. By discovering what topics and questions are present in private school classrooms and math competitions. Our educators will be delivering the highest quality of content to the students!
Second Step: Three Rounds of Polishing
At Think Academy, our instructors want to be certain that their lesson plans are free of mistakes. In order to do that, they conduct three rounds of polishing so that no errors are left undetected.
Furthermore, it is not just one teacher that reviews their own course curriculum. Instead, a group of educators are assembled to revise and perfect the lesson plan rough drafts. That way, not only are there multiple people looking for potential missing information. There are also several minds working together and suggesting ideas that could improve the course material.
This roundtable style of curriculum polishing ensures that the class sessions are interesting and engaging for the students. Implementing quality topics is one piece of the puzzle. However, creating a lesson plan that will get children excited and eager to learn is just as key!
Third Step: Three Rounds of Proofreading
In addition to making sure that the course content is of high quality. Our teachers also review the wording and formatting of their class presentations multiple times. Not only are they checking for spelling and grammar errors. They are also checking for clarity and fluidity so that children can easily understand what the problem is asking for.
Fourth Step: Iteration
The fourth and final step of the Think Academy curriculum development process is iteration. Consistency and repeating success is important when educating young students. Our instructors achieve this goal through recording and reviewing every teaching session.
By reviewing each lesson, instructors can then adjust their curriculum in between classes if changes are necessary. In addition, teachers pay close attention to how the students are responding to the course material. If it appears that the children looked a little disengaged. They can quickly address this problem as well.
Similar to our previous steps, multiple instructors review the teaching sessions to guarantee that the best changes are made. Several educators also give the teacher who is instructing the class feedback and suggestions on what they could do differently. As you can easily tell, Think Academy’s teachers work as a team and support one another!
