1) Why did you choose the University of Chicago?

The first reason is that the University of Chicago is most famous for its rigorous academic programs.

In addition, I also enjoy the broad selection of liberal arts and social studies courses available to undergraduate students.

2) What helps your admission to the University of Chicago?

A lot of factors contributed to my admission. GPA, Standardized Tests, AP is the basic requirement to show your academic ability.

The University of Chicago also values students’ application essays. Other than the personal statement. Students need to write responses to a few essay prompts. I chose to write an essay on a Chinese tongue twister and how languages can shape social diversity.

Because the University of Chicago has a strong preference on writing and critical thinking, demonstrating these strengths helped me the most.

3) How can a high schooler prepare for Econ/Stat major?

  • Take quantitative AP classes: Micro/Macro, Calculus, Statistics, Physics, and Chemistry
  • Participate in related activities: Economics competitions, student club in social studies, and summer programs.
  • Improve your academics: Higher GPA, and standardized test scores are always required for top universities!
