Introducing the American Center for Math Education
The Think Academy sponsored American Center for Math Education strives to help young students find their love for math
As many of you already know, one of Think Academy’s main goals is to make sure that as many children as possible have the ability to receive a high quality math education. Because of this, Think Academy is proud to sponsor the American Center for Math Education (ACME) who also shares this common objective.
ACME is a non-profit organization that aims to provide young students with the opportunity to discover their passion for Mathematics. Those at ACME believe that math is beautiful and contains many useful tools that can help with real-life issues. That is why ACME hopes to guide aspiring students to realize how both fun and instrumental math can be.
ACME accomplishes this goal by granting people resources that can connect them to larger math communities and schools. In addition, ACME strives to provide students with free math webinars, worksheets, events, and most importantly a common space for math enthusiasts to communicate and share ideas.
In the month of January 2021, ACME is hosting six different webinars. These webinars will cover topics on how to be more interested in math and STEM, math learning from an early age, and more. The webinars will be led by highly qualified IMO Gold Medalists, University Math Professors, and Math Education Experts such as Caltech math professor Yi Ni and Chen Chen, the head coach of the Xueersi competition team.

U.S. Math Open 2021:
The American Center for Math Education provides students with free resources to help them score high in the U.S. Math Open (UMO). The UMO is a fully online math competition for children in grades 1-8 that is held in the months of January and February.
Some of the main purposes of the UMO is to enhance the contestants’ logical thinking skills, boost students’ interest in math, and to allow those who participate to make new friends who share their passion for Mathematics.
The UMO consists of two rounds where participants in the same grade level compete against one another. The first round is called the Mars Round while the second round is called the Jupiter Round. Only the top 20% of participants of each grade from the Mars Round will be invited to partake in the Jupiter Round.
Aside from the overall experience, one of the best parts of the UMO are the prizes that can be won! For the Mars Round, all contestants receive participation awards and the top 40% also receive Excellence Awards. As for the Jupiter Round, the top three finishers in each grade level will receive prizes such as polaroids, legos, and iPads!
